Head of Environmental Sustainability

Do you want to have an impact on the sustainability agenda at a leading international retailer?


JYSK is working hard to transform their operations to run on renewable energy, to transition to more sustainable materials in their products, to reduce waste throughout their value chain, and to explore circular economy opportunities for their business.

As Head of Environmental Sustainability at JYSK you will play a key role in this transformation and also drive the effort to deliver on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

With direct report to JYSK’s Director of CSR and Communication you will be responsible for leading, further developing and systematising the sustainability activities across JYSK. This is done in cooperation with other functions in the group such as Purchasing, Logistics Retail Operations, Marketing and Communications. The Head of Environmental Sustainability will also engage with Country Managers and the Executive Management Team to embed sustainability into the organisation and drive systemic changes.

You will perform the following tasks:

Develop and follow-up regarding CSR and sustainability

  • Further develop CSR, sustainability objectives and activities in close collaboration and dialogue with JYSK management
  • Responsibility of running projects across the organisation and involving relevant departments and employees to ensure success of implementation
  • Input to group policies associated with sustainability
  • Input to continued development in accordance with relevant international principles, legislation and general global development on sustainability
  • Input, text materials
  • Identify important sustainability issues for JYSK throughout the operations and value chain
  • Define costs and benefits to identify most relevant projects
  • The task of reporting on projects and ensuring handover to Communications in order to ensure that project impact can be communicated towards customers and employees

Sustainability data analysis and reporting

  • Further development of data collection form, including integration of relevant international standards, e.g. GRI, UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Define relevant KPI’s for supporting functions
  • Collect sustainability data
  • Documentation of sustainability work – including input to JYSK’s annual CSR report

You have a minimum of 3 years of experience from a similar position within corporate sustainability/CSR/ESG. On the educational side you probably hold a Master’s degree in anthropology, engineering, business administration or the like.

Through your work you have gained experience with managing, developing and evaluating CSR and sustainability initiatives, e.g., climate activities, and is able to collect relevant data and documentation. Maybe you have also gained knowlegde with other key topics as climate change, sustainable materials, renewable energy, and supply chain engagement.

As a person you are able to clearly communicate and inspire colleagues and external partners. Furthermore, you work with an eye for both the big picture and the small details and thrive in a job with many stakeholders at several organisational levels. You also possess a sense of humour and like working with a team.
