Senior Scientist

Join a rapidly growing biotech company and set your mark on the development of novel immune therapies for the treatment of cancer

IO Biotech is a small and young biotech company who recently raised EUR 127 million from a strong group of investors. They have also been granted breakthrough therapy designation for patients with unresectable or metastatic melanoma by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They are now looking for new scientists to join the translational research team.

As a Senior Scientist at IO Biotech, your main responsibility is to manage and run the preclinical studies in support of the clinical development of vaccine candidates. Thus, the candidate is expected to be able to carry out independent research projects, supervision of laboratory members, as well as day-to-day management of the preclinical group activities. You will join a small but dedicated and growing team of scientists.

With direct report to Vice President, Translational Research.

Your main tasks are:

  • Independently carry out research projects
  • Day-to-day management of preclinical activities
  • Provide data from in vivo and in vitro studies performed in house or with external collaborators
  • Data analysis, writing of preclinical reports and presentations of research data at both internal and external meetings
  • Preparation of SOPs and related documents
  • Project coordination with external collaborators and CROs

Your qualifications are minimum 3+ years postdoctoral (or equivalent) working experience in immunology fields, preferably immuno-oncology, and with working experience from a biotech/biopharmaceutical company. You have demonstrable records of establishing in vivo mouse models, preferably within cancer immunology. Further, you have experience in various cell functional & molecular biology assays, including;

  1. In vitro cell culture (both cell lines and primary cells)
  2. In vitro functional immunology assays (e.g. ELISA, ELISPOT)
  3. Flow cytometry
  4. Basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. qPCR)

In addition, it would be particularly desirable if you also have: good knowledge of statistical tools, working knowledge of GLP, familiarity with gene expression assays, cell/tissue imaging techniques and experience with cell cloning and generation of stable cell lines.

You have a PhD in immunology/cancer biology/cell or molecular biology, or extensive working experience from biotech/biopharmaceutical companies within this therapy area.

As a person, you are organised, outgoing with a ‘can-do’ attitude, keen to learn and develop new skills, and communicate and collaborate well with colleagues. A good command of both spoken and written English is a must.

IO Biotech offers an extremely exciting position with great development potential as being in a small but highly dynamic biotech environment.
